As the name implies, natural anarchism embodies a fundamental moral relationship with nature as well as moral principles of governance. Natural anarchism starts with the premise that no one has a natural right to own the land that was bequeathed to all of humanity by Creation. All those presently alive have a responsibility to steward and protect all of the gifts of Creation which include land, natural resources and all species of living things. No individual or group has the right to own the Earth or the Moon or any other natural assets that were endowed upon humans to use responsibly.
The other core premise of Natural Anarchism asserts that at birth all humans inherit a set of natural rights prescribed by natural laws which are intuitive and innate in our original state of innocence. For centuries governments and rulers have tried to suppress and extinguish this moral knowledge with the laws and legalese necessary to repress and control society. Moral law is timeless and hasn’t changed since God gave Moses the 10 commandments in 1312 BC. Natural law is written into our heart and conscience at birth but it has been corrupted by centuries of unjust transgressions. Precedent after precedent ignored natural moral law and allowed the justice system of the untouchables to develop.
All of the proposals that society’s “Freedom Leaders” are suggesting simply replace one group of administrators with another set of bosses. The plans to separate Alberta or Quebec from Canada are always constrained by the establishment of a new government and a new set of bureaucracies to control average citizens. Government is always a subtraction from free will. Sometimes it is necessary when the free will of one causes serious harm to others. But when laws are merely pre-emptive control systems, without any injury being present, then they unjustly limit the natural rights of others to choose for themselves a way to live independently.
To address this betrayal of natural law, Natural Anarchism suggests the following radical Canadian example of a free society. While most will scream that this idea is not practical or achievable, that is not the point. The intent here is to crack open the cage of conventional wisdom and to encourage others to seek “outside the box” solutions. Simply replacing one control grid with another is not the answer. Hang on to your shorts, here we go.
The total land area of Canada is just over 3.5 million square miles, or 9 million square kilometres. According to the 2021 census, there are just over 15.3 million households in Canada. If every household had the right to occupy, use and control 100 acres of land the total land required would be just under 2.4 million square miles or about 68% of the available land mass. 50 acres per household would amount to just over one-third of Canada’s land area.
Since natural law denies individuals the right of owning anything that Creation has endowed upon all of humanity, and because natural law prescribes that all people alive today must recognize their innate responsibility to act as stewards of Creation in order to protect and strengthen the gift of life for all future generations, it follows that no individual or group ownership of land is legitimate and no individual or group’s use of land should degrade its natural value or resilience.
Accordingly, all of Canada’s land mass should be mapped and divided into 100 acre parcels (or any size 50 acres or above that people feel is more reasonable). These parcels will replace the concept of municipalities and provinces. Municipal and provincial governments will no longer have jurisdiction or control over these family parcels unless natural moral laws are broken. Each family will be the sole government for their own acreage. No municipal or provincial laws will control how families choose to live or use their properties. The land required for government and industrial purposes would remain in cities and towns and would be the only jurisdictions regulated by existing legislation.
Property would be re-allocated from local regional centres on a first-come first-served basis. Since all properties are custodial, there would be no cost to acquire a parcel. People would simply agree to abide by the principles of natural law and to care for the property responsibly. Everyone could afford free land. Existing physical assets like homes, buildings and equipment that could not be moved to a new location would be purchased at their replacement cost by the government, then dismantled, salvaged and used or sold as raw materials. No one would lose the equity value of any physical assets they now own.
One of the most interesting results of this idea would be that most of Canada’s land mass would remain forest, farm or agricultural. Families could provide most of what they need for themselves or through local cooperatives. Those who choose instead to live in towns and cities would enjoy a much less crowded environment. Homelessness, poverty and crime would be reduced dramatically.
This solution addresses individual sovereignty, land ownership, environmental sustainability and natural moral law all at once. I hope it ignites your own creative thought and imagination. Most of the questions that readers of this will have are likely already answered in my other posts. Please check them out and put the pieces together yourself.
The debt-based monetary system that the world uses today has not changed much in over 300 years despite the inequality, misery and carnage that it creates. Do you ever wonder why neither the political left nor the political right propose or even discuss true monetary reform?
Traditional economics claims that there is a significant difference between labour and capital. Labour represents the interests of hired workers while capital represents the interests of business owners and corporations. Labour unions fight for the collective rights of workers while business associations push for the commercial interests of businesses. While there may be a significant difference of interests on the shop floor, as we move up the hierarchy within organizations into the pinnacle of finance, the differences disappear completely. A wishbone is a good analogy for the relationship between labour and capital.
The bottom ends of the wishbone are separate and distinct. This is the shop floor. Labour is primarily concerned with safety, job security, worker benefits and wages. Capital is primarily concerned with productivity, efficiency and cost reduction.
Moving up the labour arm of the wishbone there are shop stewards and union reps. On the capital side there are layers of managers. The distance between the arms remains far apart. Further up the arms there are union executives and corporate executives who are high enough up the hierarchy to understand that the needs of both sides must be satisfied in order for the company to survive. The viewpoints of these executives have been tempered by the hard realities of the global economy and by the perks and benefits included in their lifestyles. The arms grow closer together as these men and women start thinking “reasonably” and very much alike. Collusion between the two sides deny workers the right to directly defend themselves or initiate legal action against corporate wrongs. Worker complaints are intercepted and processed through union advocates and if the union executive decides not to pursue justice then justice is dismissed.
At the very top of the hierarchies it is all about the money. The top labour executives manage the pension funds of their workers, the top capital executives manage corporate and shareholder investments. The primary focus of both is on Return On Investment. There is such a plethora of exotic and complex financial derivatives and instruments that these people live and work in a world of their own imagination. No difference remains between labour and capital here. At the pinnacle, the hierarchies are united. Neither labour nor capital dares disturb the foundations of their most treasured asset, the financial system.
Despite what the cynics have led you to believe, freedom from economic slavery is possible. The only thing blocking the path to freedom is the will of the public. It is the psychology of hopelessness that keeps us caged… our own convictions about the actual tools to escape. Despair and frustration over the historical realities of our political and economic betrayal disempower resistance. But just because money has captured our current political system, it doesn’t overrule the authority of democracy to determine the public good.
The disintegration of shared social beliefs and moral culture is intentional and has been skillfully used to divide us and distract us from our common needs. But all Canadians, native or immigrant, liberal or conservative, employed or unemployed, religious or atheist, wealthy or poor, want to live well and make choices for themselves without government interference. This should be the bedrock of society and the pavement on the path to freedom.
The first step, and probably the most difficult, is the internal cognitive adjustment that individuals have to make. They have to give up their pessimism and protective isolation from radically new ideas. They have to reassess their own definition of “reality” and seriously question if the path that society is currently on is “realistic”. If pure evil is now controlling the political, economic and environmental destiny of humankind is it “realistic” to let it destroy billions of people and the natural operating systems of life itself? Common sense is the public’s most powerful weapon to use against the maniacs now in control. It’s the weapon they fear the most and it is why they are trying to disable it through aerosol spraying, mRNA poisoning and cellular network radiation. If we allow them to continue to lead us down the path of human destruction and war we will surely perish. That has to be the ultimate in “unrealistic”.
The ONLY social tool that is powerful enough to overcome their influence is true democracy. Yes it’s only been theoretical up to now but if we use organize properly we can expel the corruption that now controls it. But people have to genuinely believe that it is possible, that it is urgent, that it is “realistic” and then get involved personally to make it happen. Word of mouth media is the most powerful communication tool in society. The government is trying desperately to censor and criminalize free speech, thought and action in a chilling Orwellian fashion but we still have enough time to start a genuine peaceful political revolution. If a majority of people are willing to let go of the idea that the game is too rigged to do anything about it, and are willing to roll up their sleeves and help a new party win a strong majority government in the next election, then we will have a means to defeat the current agenda, disassemble the bureaucracy and redefine the role of government and the purpose of life.
So step one is the internal realignment of individual beliefs, overcoming cynicism, recognizing the urgency of the situation, and mobilizing individual citizen involvement and coordinated action. Like I said, step one is probably the most difficult.
Step two may be just as difficult as step one. Getting people to agree on a replacement for the current political, economic and financial systems and the new role of government in society is going to be a doozie. Here the “keep it simple and succinct” kiss rule is crucial. A winning party must clearly define the foundational moral principles that a new society will operate on. It must state clearly in unambiguous language what the shared goals of civilization are and define what the relationships and responsibilities will be between individuals, the state and corporations (if they are allowed to continue to exist). The platform need not attempt to address every individual issue or social problem that now exists. To do so would alienate more people than it would attract. All that is needed is a strong explanation of a new vision for a freer, more humane world that does not exploit either humans or the natural world unfairly or needlessly. As anyone who has been following me knows, I have some highly developed alternatives to offer to the discussion but public consultation must dictate the final platform of any new party.
Step three is to communicate the news that there is now a real alternative to the current corruption that is hell bent on our destruction, and to install candidates in every riding from coast to coast. Here is where the power of positive human energy defeats the power of evil. People animated with the love of genuine truth have an unstoppable effect on others. Stimulating public discussions and penetrating established viewpoints by asking probing questions that force respondents to think deeply in order to formulate answers to defend their existing beliefs is the best way to change minds and bring people onboard. Social media platforms can still be used for now at least to get new information out. Face-to-face public meetings are more effective however and can be organized as small kitchen table, or local neighbourhood events. Larger city-wide functions can be held in libraries, community centres and outdoor markets and festivals.
Specific party strategies and fundraising options will be discussed in a part two if the public response to this initial plan justifies a continued effort. If most people find this first part to be a pipe dream or utopian fantasy then it won’t proceed. If this introduction goes viral however, I will follow up with a part two. Thanks for watching/reading. Please discuss this revolution with your friends and send feedback.
